Renaissance reeds
DANIEL STILLMAN, founding member and director of The Boston Shawm &
Sackbut Ensemble, has toured extensively with the Boston Camerata and
Waverly Consort, and performed and recorded with such groups as the Gabrieli
Consort, Taverner Players, Boston Baroque, Oltremontano, Folger Consort,
Apollo’s Fire, Les Sonneurs de Montréal, and the world music ensemble Dünya.
He can be heard on some two dozen recordings, ranging from the Roman de
Fauvel (Boston Camerata), to Mozart’s Requiem (Boston Baroque), to Unfold
(Roger Miller’s Exquisite Corpse). Dan has served on the faculties of Wellesley
College, Tufts University, the Five College Early Music Program and the Longy
School of Music, as well as summer workshops across the country. Most recently
he has transcribed and edited the music of Ottaviano Petrucci’s Canti B,
published by Amherst Early Music.
